Jon Bonnell, Jr is an award winning director and writer. Jon wrote his first script in 2005. Within a year, he was a finalist in the Screenplay Festival of Los Angeles and quarter-finalist in the Page International Screenwriting Awards. He also wrote and directed his first film in 2005. By late 2007, Jon had won five awards, his work had been screened at six film festivals including the International Horror/Sci Fi Film Festival and most recently he has been accepted into the Phoenix Film Festival. In 2008, Jon completed work on the suspense thriller match.dead.
Born in Scottsdale, AZ, Jon Bonnell began his entertainment career in 1979 in theatre where he remained until 1987. In 1985 he auditioned for Nobody's Fool with Rosanna Arquette. While he did not get the role, he did get the film bug. He worked the next three years in film and television in Phoenix and Los Angeles before focusing his attention on his academic career.
In 1991 Jon completed his degree and went into software development. Today the former software executive has more than two dozen direct to consumer product releases under his belt and experience managing budgets in excess of 2 million dollars. He has a demonstrated track record of bringing in projects on time and under budget. He left the industry in 2007.
Jon is now applying his expertise in project management with his gifted film making to create match.dead. "In January 2008, I was told by a colleague if I made another short film, they'd kill me, so I took their advice and here we are."
Jon currently lives in Phoenix, AZ with his wife and two children. He is represented by Stephen Wade Nebgen, PLLC of Scottsdale, AZ.
