The Production AZ Daily and Social Networking

THE EXPERIMENT
We started up a Paper.li daily news paper about a month ago: The Production AZ Daily.  The paper was a way to allow all of Arizona based film, television, and media related companies and individuals to get the word out to everyone else in Arizona.

THE RESULTS
We’re at more than 400 views a day, dozens of daily retweets, and dozens of subscribers.  KLOUT, in less than a month, has us tracking at a 35, steadily climbing, influencing, and a solid socializer on Twitter.  But its the content that counts to us at Infinite Spectrum.  Is it working?  In short, no.  We have a small group of active contributors, maybe a dozen folks, even though we are following more than 80 people.

Does this mean that only 12 people are doing things in Arizona?  No, in our opinion its a lack of conversations.  Just tweeting isn’t enough. You need to give things away.  The Production AZ Daily works by combining links to content, pictures, and video and from those crafting the articles.

Simply tweeting:

kellyannb: Check us out at Phoenix ComicCon.

Is a great announcement to your followers, but there’s nothing there for us to repost.  Paper.li doesn’t do classifieds, yet.

But this is perfect:

kellyannb: Check out the newest book review at

Because this will generate the following article:

Book Review: You Couldnt Ignore Me If You Tried, by Susannah Gora

I was going to write my own review of this book but then I read what Kirby Fields at PopMatters.com had to say and decided not to reinvent the wheel. It’s screaming for a Media Integration Guide…yeah I know its not media but it is a literary art. I’ll get it done and up in the next few days so look for it.

Its not just about talking, but about sharing. Everyone has things to share, but you need to link directly to that content.

Don’t link to your home page.  Link right to pertinent content.  That will engage the reader and then the reader will explore who you are.  That’s what Social Networking is all about: engaging!

Join the conversation!  Just follow us on Twitter.
